Do Not Stand At My Grave And Weep

Do not stand at my grave and weep, I am not there. I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow. I am the diamond glints on snow.
I am the sunlight on ripened grain. I am the gentle autumn rain.

When you awaken in the morning’s hush, I am the swift uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circled flight. I am the soft stars that shine at night.
Do not stand at my grave and cry; I am not there. I did not die.

Cora Pruitt died on March 18, 2014 in Compton, CA.  She was buried on April 4, 2014 at the Inglewood Park Cemetery in Inglewood, CA by Inglewood Cemetery Mortuary in Inglewood, CA.

Don’t grieve for me, for now I’m free, I’m following the path God laid for me. I took his hand when I heard his call, I turned my back and left it all. I could not stay another day, To laugh, to love, to work, to play.
Tasks left undone must stay that way, I’ve found that peace at the end of the day. If my parting has left a void, Then fill it with remembered joy. A friendship shared, a laugh, a kiss, Ah, yes, these things too I will miss.
Be not burdened with times of sorrow, I wish you the sunshine of tomorrow. My Life’s been full, I savoured much, Good friends, good times, a loved one’ touch. Perhaps my time seemed all too brief, Don’t lengthen it now with undue grief.
Lift up your heart and share with me, God wanted me now, He set me free.

Celebrations of Life: 2013

I decided to create a series of posts dedicated to those relatives (distant or close) with whom I share a common ancestor by birth or by marriage. I wanted to start with those that I know transitioned in 2013 and honor them here so that they will hopefully always be remembered.

God saw you getting tired and a cure was not to be so he put his arms around you and whispered, “Come to Me”
With tearful eyes we watched you and saw you pass away and although we love you dearly we could not make you stay.
A Golden heart stopped beating hard working hands at rest. God broke our hearts to prove to us He only takes the best.
