I began my ancestral journey in 2012 after receiving a call from my mother and hearing a story about my 2nd great grandfather. That sparked an interest that I didn’t know I had. I felt like I didn’t know anything about my family and I wanted to know everything! I did try and start researching before 2012, but I never got anywhere with it. I guess I just didn’t understand how to use ancestry.com or how to really start researching.
This time around, I spent some time learning how to research. Researching my ancestors has been an exciting, yet eye opening experience. Through this experience I have gotten to learn more about myself, meet relatives I never knew, hear the oral history that I had never been told. I have travelled to and fro, been in cemeteries and up to my eye brows in the archives searching for answers all for the satisfaction of knowing the history of my family.
The goal of Tracing Amy: My Ancestral Journey is to provide a space where family members can follow and participate in my research as well as to preserve the history of my family so that it can be passed down to the next generation, never to be lost again.
